Overdrive

I am looking for a replacement speed sensor for my overdrive. I am not sure if I will be able to repair the wire that got pulled off of it. Thanks for the help

Hows about a little more info on what you have, brand, model if you have it. We don't know if it is original or has been swapped in from your post.

My guess is that your '65 has a T-85N model OD transmission. Look for the number on the side to confirm it.
The wire should be soldered to a contact - that's all. Pull the rubber boot to make sure.
That transmission was used in a lot of different models, not just Fords from '65 on.
It is also possible that the light duty version of that transmission used the same governor. I bet Bill (aka NumberDummy) can confirm that or not.
If you need to replace it (which I doubt), so, then E-bay may be your best bet. I just found 4 used possibilities, all less than 15$ each.

Borg Warner T-85N 3 speed Overdrive, factory installed in: 1965/67 F100 240/300 I-6 & 352 / 1968/72 F100 240/300 I-6 & 360/390 / 1969/72 F100 302 / 1963/64 Galaxie 352/390 / 1965/67 Galaxie 352.

And...1951/56 Packard / 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk (Packard V8 engine) / 1955/56 Nash & Hudson / 1956/63 Studebaker half ton pickups / 1949/51 Lincoln / And...et cetera!

There is no such thing as a speed sensor, so...my guess is...it's either the solenoid (mounted on the drivers side of the O/D unit) or governor (mounted atop the O/D unit) the OP is refering to.

Other maladies affecting this trans: The O/D relay is mounted on the engine side of the firewall, there is a fuse mounted on this relay.

There's a kickdown switch mounted adjacent to the accelerator pedal. The O/D cable can snap.

Some of these parts can be found NOS (New Old Stock) at Ford Dealers and Ford, Packard & Studebaker obsolete parts vendors.

btw: I have Studebaker & Packard parts catalogs, so I can list these part numbers too...if the parts cannot be found at a Ford related source.

Original 3 speed with overdrive, the governor is what i was referring tool. I am going to try to resolder the wire back on it was working fine before the trans was pulled. it just leaks out of the solenoid.
