I was driving my 00 F150 4x4 XL 4.6L Single cab yesterday home from work a couple of days ago and i started to smell coolant in the cab. I pulled over and looked under the hood and truck and on the floor board and i couldnt find any coolant leaking anywere. I did notice that my coolant is old and discolored and needs to be changed but that is it. I automatically thought of the heater core but upon looking on line at some other posts a lot of people dont think that its the heater core but instead the blend door. Others that i have talked to have said to look at the connectors and see if they are leeking from there. Can someone point me in the correct direction.
Also the heater isnt putting out heat like it used to. And this has only been since i started smelling the coolant smell in the cab.
i just had my heater core go bad and i got that sweet smell through the vents and the glass would almost instantly fog up in any setting. no coolant leaked out of the heater box though. it all stayed in the box.
that is ecactly what mine is doing. Did you change it yourself or did you have a shop do it? If you had a shop do it what did you pay to have it done. If its ok that i ask.
Is this something that the whole dashboard has to be romoved to do or could I be lucky and just go behind the glove box?
i had a buddy of mine who runs his own shop do it. he gave me a real good price but told me retail would be around $800. the whole dash had to come out. check out this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-pictures.html .
