Still chasing this problem. Someone once said grease the hinges, but it didn't help. The problem i'm having is the interior lights are only activated when any of the front two doors are opened. The back two or rear wont turn them on. I was thinking of dropping it off at the stealer and letting them look at it, I was trying to avoid paying that big bill. Any other suggestions? I was thinking Body Control Module?
Just a guess: Bad Grounds in the rear doors and lift gates. When the door is open, the black w/wht stripe wire should be grounded. Check the body ground (G900) below the front part of the rear left quarter window.
When you open the back doors do you get the "door open" light on the dash? Maybe wondering if someone clipped some wires that run down to the door latches.
You can spray down the door LATCHES with WD-40 (or similar) to see if you can get them to work again.
I had the same problem, especially with the rear hatch. The problem is in the micro-switches that are part of the the latches. They get dirty and don't move freely when you open/close the doors. Monsta's got it right, only I used carb cleaner...sparingly...to clean the latch area. After it evaporated I sprayed a little silicone lube around/behind the latches and not a problem since. Just make sure you use a lube that will conduct electricity.
To avoid shorting out the switches, unhook your battery when you spray the cleaner and leave it unhooked until it evaporates (only takes a couple minutes).

Lube the hinges???
Good Luck!

I made a mistake. They did tell me to grease the latches, not hinges. But that didn't fix it last time I did it. Maybe I'll try to really get in there and clean them, then grease them and see what happens. It sounds more like something has been cut. There was an aftermarket overhead dvd installed when I bought. They might have clipped something then.

No. I only get it when the front two open. it chimes and says door open. And the radio plays after the key is turned off and cuts off when the front doors are opened, but not the backs. It's like the truck doesn't know the back doors are on.
With out the sensors even picking up the doors open/closed I would be pulling the interior panel off and looking at the wires that run towards the switches to test for power. Use the front doors as a guide as to what current and colored wires to look for.

Thanks guys. I will check all of these as soon as the snow clears up. Go figure, we never get any amount of good snow here in Central Va, and the first weekend i'm off work and can pay some attention to the ol' X, we get 2 inches in one day. On top of it, my wife who's 7 months preggers just fell and broke her right fibula in her ankle so i'm home bound for a while.
