AutoEnginuity is the best all around package. If you can setup a mount in your truck, you can run it off a small PC(I use a netbook that I got specifically for this application) and all you would really need would be an EGT gauge as that isn't covered by the computer. Now what sets this apart from the DashDAQ is it's ability to reprogram some parts after a repair job(don't think of programming like ECM, TCM and FICM that's different) and you're able to run tests on various components(injector buzz test etc) that you can't do with the DashDAQ.
DashDAQ would be second, as far as functionality, but 1st if portability is a primary concern.
I combine AE, DashDAQ, and analog gauges to do all my monitoring. I would highly suggest the AE software if you like to wrench on your truck(or other vehicle) extensively as it will by for itself quickly just on code reading alone.
Ok well I am personally wanting nothing to do with tuning the truck simply to monitor it. I agree it won't read everything but since software flashes are done via the net it's possible that option could be added.
When I bought my truck which was lifted from the dealer with 20's and 35's on it I had issues already. Most dealerships I have gone to closer to my home all want to say well that wouldn' be warranty because it's lifted...so I end up going where I bought it since I get no hassle other then this comment when I asked about mods.
Modify the intake, the exhaust, add a programmer your warranty will be voided. I have no intention of testing Ford since my warranty is valid up to 140K. If it can monitor the truck and give me EGT, ECT, EOT, Tranny temps plus a few bonus others thats good for me. Plus California is getting way to particular in general.....
MoyockPowerstroke can I get a pic of how u mounted it?
Is there a better device then the insight that does not tune???? Thanks for all the input so far.
Finally Combatmedic...Dog we could never ever say this enough or show enough appreciation but thank you for the service you have given to this country

Whatever you do when your warranty is expired, don't do the a/m intake, it's a waste unless you are going to upgrade injectors and turbo on these trucks in particular. The stock intake was actually done right.
PIT...you appreciation is taken to heart. My service of almost 29 years have been a Fun and Wild Ride, and when they get me fixed, I'll be right back at it!
So, was your truck lifted by a private owner or one of those modded by a dealership for sale? Might be interesting to find out. If a dealership did it for sale and you can find that out...you my friend are warranted! Alot of times it only take looking at whatever papers the roiginal owner had if you have them in your glovebox or finding out who originally sold the truck when new.
I can appreciate your strategy with being in California and dealing with Ford. Sometimes it's not worth bucking the system.
Truck was modded by the dealership and I have the paperwork (including the sticker on the window) when I bought it to prove it. The other dealership just made every excuse under the sun and blew me off. Most dealerships here give the excuse it did not come from the factory that way therefore your warranty would be void. I personally think they simply don't want the business which is poor management to me.
Citrus Ford out in Ontario, Ca where I bought my truck have ALWAYS treated me good and they have earned my business present and future.
(All they Citrus did was lift my truck 6" Fabtech 4 link system and add 20 Diamo Rims with 35" Toyo Open Country AT's). No mods other mods were done.
I would do the EGR delete but with our trucks start getting Smogged starting Jan 1 so that's not happening, that goes for the CAT as well. O'well!
Moyock...I see the insight and CCV...great installs! But I was also looking at your Oil bypass...those pics arent' coming up for me.
I have the dash pod for the insight...just not sure if I'm going insight or Dashdaq!
Mike
Mike, go back to my album...click on link Show all albums...the oil bypass is listed but for some reason the (9) photos are not shown...but if you go into that album and click on each photo description the photos will come up. Let me know if you still can't see them.. Tom
Thank you Sir...thats what this forum is all about...all of us have a passion for our trucks and its great we can share ideals and help each other out. Happy to help.
You say the edge only displays some of the engines vitals, which ones will it display.Does it depend on the year of the vehicle?Does it display fuel presure??Iam curious as i was looking into the same unit. Thanks
