MODs advice? Doing it this weekend

I'm a newby with diesels, but I love mine and will keep on picking up pennys found on the ground to keep it on the road. I'm getting ready to put on a 4" Mbrp exhaust system, S&B Intake, and a SCT Tuner. The Ford Dealership gave me his name after I told them I wasn't spending $2000 to go back to stock to get rid of the delete kit. He's new and super knowledgeable with 6.0s, he's trying to make a name for hisself and I feel confrontable with him. Am I making a mistake or will I be excited? For the Tunes, I'm looking for gas mileage, maybe towing, and hauling ***.. Everything is stock besides the EGR delete kits, lift and 37s. (2005 6.0 X) I can't wait to hear the responses.

I asked the same thing and all I got was "use the search box." Good luck, man.

Who's name did he give you?

I don't venture to the 6.0L forum often, but Spartan Diesel seems to be the name most 6.0 guys rave about.

Have you checked out the 6.0L forum? You'll get a LOT more info there, since that forum is specifically for your engine. The Excursion forum is really good for Ex specific stuff. For your engine, I'd head over to the 6.0 forum and give the guys there a shout.

Try the V10 forum for your engine related questions and mods. Those guys there are super helpful and will get you pointed in the right direction.

Just an aside, the search function is a really good, under utilized tool that can help you focus your questions and solve some problems for you, while creating more questions!

I'm surprised the dealer actually pointed you in the direction of a person who does custom tuning. Nice to know not all dealerships think aftermarket tuning is bad!

I've never heard of Chris. Does he have a website? What was it that made you comfortable with him?

Just curious.

I know everyone has to start somewhere, but if it were my rig, I'd do tons of research and read about all the choices before I trusted someone to do my tuning.

Back when I was looking at choices for my Lightning, it took me three months to decide who I was going to go with for my L.

Are you planning on getting some ARP head studs for your rig?

Good choice on the exhaust (although I opted for just the Walker BTM muffler for my 05)
SCT is the ONLY way to go as far as I am concerned.... I had my best response and tuning from Innovative Diesel..

I would stick with the stock intake - it's good for upwards of 500 HP and best filtering and service you could ask for...

Less than stellar reports of benefits of aftermarket intakes... do your research
(and the search DOES help )

This setup in mine has given me 99,600 fast, fun miles so far !

ok. oK.oK.ok. I'll do the search engine next time and hope to be forgiven this time. I've done alot of research, but not for the guy doing the custon tuning. He's a good ol' country boy that knows his stuff and truck pullings on the weekends because he loves powerstokes. His Pulling truck is crazy bad and has a nice daily driver. Tonight was the first time that I've been to his shop and it was like a parking lot for people waitning for him to work on their trucks. No, he does't have a website or any info on him on the internet, but you can have a feeling when speaking with someone who they really are. I don't trust anyone, but something is telling me it's OK. Yes, I'm planning to put the studs in and we talked about that tonight. He said that I should be OK the way I drive, (Sunday Driver) but I should really think about it to be safe in the long run and not worry about having to pull the cab off. I do that soon enough. Thanks, I feel better with the products that I'm putting on. And for the intake, yes, you're right jdadamsjr regarding the stock, but I'm planning more upgrades in the future and will start with the search function first before asking. I'm going to have people wondered if there's a jet engine under the hood.

Your on the right track with an SCT and exhaust! Don't waste money on an intake, the stock one flows the cfm to support 500HP! It;s a waste of money except for looks! Save a couple thousand for some head studs, cuz if you drive it hard with a 100HP+ tunes those gaskets are gonna POP!

Thanks, alittle too on the intake. Yes, that's a must have, as the head studs are coming in the near future.
