ok, ive got a 93 f150, with the 5.0 in it, its been sittin for the past couple yrs, but has been driven 1time at least per month. a few months back the mice finally got it. and since then its had what sounds like a miss. there were pieces missin from the plug wires, so i replaced them. and several other places where it mice had chewed on wires. one spot being the number 1 fuel injector wires. both of them, not all the way through. i just cut and spliced a new plug on that inj. and it still misses. i thought it was just not gettin a stoung enough signal from thehalf chewed wires, but the truck darn near dies if i unplug an injector. theres nothing in the intake. and plugs were new before storage. anythoughts.?? i havent pulled the upper intake to look under there yet. o..and no vac leacks that i can find or havnt fixed yet. all input is welcome
Some, if not all, of the injectors may be gummed up from sitting. It probably wouldn't hurt to run some injector cleaner and fresh gas thru it.
With the engine running, take a long screwdriver or even a piece of wooden dowel will work. Place one end against an injector and the other against your ear- you should be able to hear a steady, rapid clicking. Repeat with every injector- if one is bad you will be able to tell by the clicking. If none of them are bad, the problem is with spark or maybe fuel pressure.
well, the cleaner isnt a bad idea...i can garuntee that it isnt the spark system. all new stuff on that side. i love my 12v cummins, so easy to diagnose and fix. thanks for your opinion
