Does anyone know why my engine light would illuminate on my instrument panel after disconnecting the battery? I had some corrosion so I disconnected it to clean terminals. Now my engine light is on all the time. Was wondering how to turn it off and why it came on. Thanks.
I think that you mean the CEL correct? Go to a parts store to have the code read. Then have them clear the codes. The stores will read the codes for free.
Thanks for reply. Auto Zone said faults were P2104, throttle actuator forced idle. Probable causes failed ECM or APP sensor. Second code was P2112, throttle body stuck closed, throttle body stuck closed, throttle body at wrong angle. As I said, these codes only appeared after battery disconnect. I cleared them and will monitor. Thanks again.
almost the same thing happened to me, i disconnected the battery and then after i hooked it up my gas pedal wasnt working and same codes came up p2104,p2111 Was your problem fixed ??? is so let me know what you did thanks
connecting a small 12v battery, or a small 2A battery charger to the cigarette lighter before changing the main battery or cleaning your battery terminals will avoid all this code balogna, losing your radio presets screwing up your idle settings...just be careful not to short the connectors together when cleaning them, or letting the +ve touch the body.
Any continuous source of 12vdc through the cigarette lighter will avoid these headaches.
