Hey guys I've got a 2wd and i'd like to lift it. One of my buddies said his cousin flipped his 2wd's I-Beam and it lifted it quite a bit. I just wanted to see if anybody had done it, or knows what i am talking about.
Just speculating and thinking out loud here, but the caster is built into the end of the beam, and it seems that flipping this would cause quite the stir with the king pin angle.
Isnt that why most desert guys are bending beams?

Yup.

If only it was that easy
This has been covered before and people do it. A search will come up with a thread or 2 with more info and pics.
Check for the I-beams on a Econoline Van, if I remember right the ends are straighter and would give some lift over a truck I beam. I checked into this years ago when I wanted to make a prerunner looking 2wd.
yes - SOME of the E series vans had straighter ends on the beams. I don't know if they can be just bolted in to attain lift though. Never heard of anybody doing that.
I would like to know if anybody has tried this. I want to lift my truck, and this would be cheaper than the 700 autfab lift. Also where and how much does it cost to get an i beam bent?
search this topic. There was another thread about it that had pics, etc.
Try hitting up local big rig shops and see if they bend i-beam front ends to correct alignment (camber). Older trucks (big and small) had i-beam front ends and often big rig type shops are very used to aligning trucks like this.
email me a ford_boyzelite@yahoo.com i have some pics that i saved from looking threw the post for the same thing, it would be alot better to build 3 inch drop brackets and throw 3/4 ton econoline springs outta a mid 80s e250 van or 350 van in it, or do the beam flip and swap driver and passenger sides and take it to a shop and get it aligned and let us all know how far out the shop said.

Fixed that for you as "better" was not the correct word
Sorry to inform you guys that i won't be doing this as a project on my truck anymore. Since I had posted this i found some tires and rims and decided i didnt want i lift that much anymore but keep this thread going for all the other guys wanting a 2-wheel drive lifted.
So if you swaped sides it should be ok as far as caster goes. Also what is the stock camber spec. If it's sero then you should'nt even have to align the truck (it's what I'm praying for). Drop brackets seem like a good idea, but would I need to lengthen the radius arms.
