Getting full power to the lights will help more then just replacing light "fixtures".
New replacement headlight assemblies. You can get them from NPD, LMC, JCW, and Ebay. Do NOT get any of the diamond clear or other wierd lights. The optics in them are usually incorrect. The best it new OEM Ford assemblies, but they cost more and are not as easy to get.
Secondly add a headlight relay harness. This will give full voltage to the lights and save the headlight switch from having to carry the load. You can get these from LMC and Ebay.
Then just get a good pair of +30 bulbs like GE Nighthawk (not sport), Sylvania Xtravision, Phillips Vison Plus, Wagner true view I think its called. Do not get over wattage bulbs though. It can melt the assembly and connector, not to mention create glare for oncomming drivers. From my experience GE Nighthawk and Phillips Vision Plus seem to produce the most light. There is also a new Philips bulb that is a plus 50 percent bulb. I have not seen them yet though. These types of bulbs have a different gas mixture and filement etc, but are not increased wattage.
Stay away from all coated or tinted bulbs. Even though they appear whiter, they actually reduce the amount of light emitted from the bulb. An example is Silverstar. These type of bulbs are really lousy in bad weather. The coating or tint also makes them run hotter and not last as long. The Xtravision is basically the same bulb with a clear glass.
