Hi all. I'm guess I'm what you'd call an "old newbie"....old fart, new to the board. I am considering purchasing my first F100. SHort story long, I have a line on two nice 2wd / LB's....a '67 352-2bbl, and a '72 360-2. Either one I buy, I'd want to hop it up just a tad (still just a DD'er, no towing or anything). Ok, here's the questions (and let's pretend for a moment that building a 390 is outta the question):
1) I know the comp. ratio on the 360 is almost non-existent. What would the ratio be on the 352?
2) What are the stock cylinder head chambers (in approx. cc's) on both engines?
3) I assume, if I bought the 352 truck, that the replacement pistons would give me a satisfactory cr of around 9:1 or so, and decent quench? What would I have to do with the 360 to get a decent cr to work with?
4) I was considering 2-5/8" LT's, duals, Performer, 600-670 carb, and a D.U.I. HEI. The cam I would like to use is the CC XE256. Where should my cr be?
5) Can the stock heads on either of these engines handle the above, w/o mods to the heads?
Thx
The 360 replaced the 352 in I believe 68, it was the last FE engine Ford added to the lineup. Both engines run the same crank so the stroke is the same. Head size should be same. The nice thing is the 360 is in a 390 bore block, and just by swapping crank & rods it can be built back as a 390.
A 500 cfm carb will work well on that engine, you don't want much more than 600, or you'll be dumping gas out the pipes on the road. An engine with D2TE heads are good. This is IMHO
