Had my '70 years back do that, but had it parked slightly to drivers side, got really hot and "burped" fuel all down the side of truck. Cap didn't fit tight enough to seal properly. Turned truck around and all was fine, I had just filled it up.
I am considered grumpy when I reply like I do sometimes, but some of you guys are so DAMN hard headed. You have had two responders telling you that you have a common problem and you want this to turn into another 30 post thread discussing the finer points of gas purchase instead of receiving what you have received in good faith and start applying it.
One more, Gas has been leaking from behind the seat gas tank since the 50s when mostly full and parked drivers side down on a warm day until the vented under bed tanks were introduced.
DO NOT FILL YOUR GAS TANK UP, if you can not drive out 3-5 gallons and have to park the truck drivers side lower. There is nothing wrong with your truck other than operator error.
Did fine the answer to help stop the problem with help at another forum. Was not about driverside lower and to much fuel per say as one would think. Mr Jowiker I do think you show disrespect. I can be hard headed yes, we are not stupid. Please Mr Jowiker don't be so grumpy everything be ok.
