i'm not positive thats going to be your issue. just saying if you had a problem with your speedometer bouncing sometimes and if your cruise used to surge a little bit i would look towards the RABS. mine does this so i need to change out the RABS.
my 3rd brake light has been out for awhile now and my CC still works just fine so i don't think a bulb is going to be your problem.. just my .02
3rd brake light controls the off of the cruise if you press the brake.
but your wiring under the dash has already been "modified" so this could have been changed.
The rabs is on the frame rail, drivers side, right under the firewall. This shouldnt' effect your cruise as far as I know.

and the RABS thing on the drivers frame rail, does not have a sensor that comes out, and the lead goes to the rear pumpkin speed sensor. I am going to try replacing that... what the hell...
And then if that does not work, I will take it in for the recall, with some fluid in the plug of the swithc...
If the Speedo is jumping a bit and the cruise doesn't work, has nothing to do with the RABS unit.
You want the VSS, which controls the rear braking, which is what people are thinking about.
Its the sensor on top of the pumpkin in the back. It's probably dirty or defective.
They come out like a PITA sometimes too.
I'd pull that, test it and clean it, and go get the recall as well.
They are supposed to replace the wiring, the sensor is only replaced if there is fluid in it.
So cheating is a good idea, seeing as it is defective.

The RABS hydraulic "breakout box" is on the frame rail, yes, but the VSS in the diff is also the _sensor_ for the RABS, and many parts stores have it listed as the "RABS Sensor". I've read elsewhere that at some stores, you have to ask for it that way; if you ask for a VSS, you get the wrong part (but I never got an answer when I asked "which wrong part do you get?").
Well the sensor didnt work... I got it from ford even...
So next to test is if the clutch switch has power going in and going out... if not I will just jump the wires or replace the switch... then Its going in for the recall either way tommorow.... with fluid in the swithc too...
I got at it this morning.... turns out its the clutch switch... I have the wires jumped right now.... I will be replacing the switch sometime soon. But thanks guys.... Im glad my cruise works again!
so i have the factory jumper on my safety switch for the clutch.Would that stop the cruse from working.I also got the third tail light working tonight, so i will see if that dose the trick tomorrow.

The factory jumper should only exist on trucks with automatics. But no, since it jumpers both the start and cruise circuits, it should not disable the cruise. As for the third stop light (it's a stop light, not a taillight), to the best of my knowledge, it shouldn't disable the cruise entirely, it should only cause it to kick off when you hit the turn signal (some kind of back-feed from the turn signal circuit to the brake light circuit since they share the bulb filaments in the bed).
Ya i did a conversion from auto to stick.so i use the jumper so i didnt have to have the clutch in to start. But anways hopefully the third light thing works.
