I ordered 2 of the Stancor GPR replacements for my buddies here in MT, one is a late 99, the other a 2001(my truck has GPCM).
I opened up the boxes last night, and there are no numbers or anything indicating which posts are the hot feeed, etc. Was wondering if someone had a diagram of which is which, no real way to orient it except for the mounting bracket as to say which would be which?
I just read Guzzle's Stancor GPR replacement page and was wondering about the "shunt" that is mentioned and pictured. What does the shunt do and is it necessary?
Just replaced OEM with Stancor after reading guzzles mod page. The replacement is easy, however the mounting studs are too long very nearly touch the stancor making it difficult to thread on a holddown nut. As Guzzle says, you'll have to place the stancor halfway on, then thread the nut before dropping the unit all the way down on the studs. Then you'll need a 10mm SHORT box end and some patience to get the nut secure. I recommend removing the front relay also as this will help, but like the holddown nut, the front relay also has to go on after the stancor, but before the unit is all the way down. Good Mod, I'll test in colder weather soon.
