Bummer on the brakes situation Adam. As for tires, here's what I have personal experience with:
1. Uniroyal Liberator from Walmart. Inexpensive but one heck of a good tire. Good in snow, rain, whatever, and I got 60,000 miles out of them.
2. Hankook Dynapro AT/M. I scored a set of 265/75R16s for $637 out the door a year ago, but that was in CO also. This past weekend I was looking for drifts. 2'+ drifts slowed me a little, but didn't stop me. Lots of siping too. A little heavier than the Liberator because of the tread, but better in bad weather, which since we get so little of here in MD, might be a tod overkill... or just perfect. Your call.
Keep in mind I drive a 99 F250 diesel so I'm heavier.
Hope everyone's having a great morning! And if you're interested, I have a poll open for a December/Arlene bday party GTG. Location is the Washington Street Pub in Easton, MD. HERE is the poll.
Good morning Adam, Jr, Bud, Charlie, Jason, Bredan and everyone else that drops by.
It looks like tires are the topic of the day. I have been researching them myself as I will be / should be replacing mine. Currently I have Cooper Discoverer ATR in a LT 265/75R16 and they have been on for just about 4 years. 50k mile tire and I currently have about 54K on them. Great in the snow but right now are $$$$$. I paid $135 each out the door when I got them and today they are $197....OUCH!!!! I have been looking at a Swedish made tire from Nokian which looks to be a better tire than the Coopers and are cheaper.... $159 each out the door. A relative of one of the guys in the shop that I get my tires from has them on his truck, and has around 65K miles on them and are still going strong. These tires are rated for 50K miles.
I just replaced my tires with michelin x radial lt load range 201 each at costco. I was surprised in its performance in the snow drives through 8 Inches downhill no problem. I was gonna get bf goodrich all terrain k/os but i am glad i got the michelins pricey but worth it.
howdy all,
i think i spend 350$ for the tires on my ranger. mounted and balanced from les schwab
i put a pair of 235/75/r15 mud and snow tires on it. there meaty tires i had on my race car. but the tire i run on it are 14". i think the tires we have on the ranger are grand am radials.
Late afternoon all of FTE land! Don't look like we are gonna get that snow on Christmas after all....some rain tho. That's fine with me....snow can wait till February now, as usual!
Took 2 days of work to get anywhere near normal.....still have no newspaper delivery from the Washington Post. Baltimore Sun IS delivering. No mail Saturday, and it still hasn't come today yet.
Oh yeah, most of the schools are closed until next year now....they were supposed to go untill Tuesday or Wed.... depending on county.
