Hey guys, i own a 1997 f250 PSD and it has 232xxx on the odo. my question is what kind of replacement injectors would be finanically beneficial i was looking at some stock injectors, baby swamps, or thinking about rebuilding them myself. Thanks for viewing
I can't stress enough that you get what you pay for.
Do you want another 230k miles out of your injectors?
Do you want to spend as little as possible and sell the truck?
Do you want to spend as little as possible and have it run well for a many years?
Do you want to spend as little as possible because it's a farm truck that sits around most of the time?
Do you work it hard, all across the country and need it dead-nuts reliable?
Your biggest hurdle is that the older truck's Plunger & Barrels wear out MUCH more frequently than the '99 - '03 injectors do, and you may be money ahead going with new Plunger & Barrels and new nozzles and start off with a good, fresh set with these new parts. The new Plunger & Barrels are a much better product than what the oem put in there.

Hope this helps.
Jim, in the DIY kits, thouse parts come with them? Mine has 142K miles and works fine, but Im planning to upgrade to stage 1s.
I would like to know too since mine has 147000 and I'm getting ready to order a diy stage one and php.
When I looked at his site before I didn't think they did but I could be wrong.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo.............
I'm not supposed to discuss pricing, but the basic Kit no where covers this cost.
Look at my site for the DIY Stage-2C Kit. This comes with all new P&B's and new Nozzles. If you don't want Stage-2 nozzles, the stock nozzles cost the same and I can swap them on request.
Your P&B's might be fine, but most likely they are not and the only way to know is to take the injectors apart and inspect them. You can just buy the basic DIY Kit and if you need parts, then you can order just what you need. Instead of going all out and buying everything up front. I do not take returns on unused Kit parts, sorry.
BUT, having said that, it is NEVER a bad idea to go with NEW Nozzles, and the new P&B's ALL have the Tungsten coating so it's actually a good upgrade and good investment, IMO.

Ok, I looked at your site and only saw DIY Stage-2A Kit, no 2C Kit, are the same?. In the other hand I understand that the basic kit for Stage-1, comes with instructions about how to inspect them and know if they are ok, am I right? or I have to buy the DIY Injector Inspection Kit?. Of course it WILL NEVER be a bad idea go with NEW ones, but in this times the $$$$ is very dificult to get it, so if I find something wrong, I just can order that parts, am I ok?.
Thanks for the answers.
Mongo12, I have the baby beans and think they are great. If I had known about Jim before I got them I would have gone with him. All my P&B's were replaced and I feel now after many thousand miles on them that it was worth it.
Cool guys thanks for the input i now have a perspective on what to look for. Jim, to answer your question, yes i want another 230 thou on the injectors and whatever is reasonably priced to ensure reliability because i want this truck to be a reliable towing rig.

No, sorry, the Stage-2C Kit is listed under the AB/AD injectors and converts those to Single Shots. But uses all new parts like you asked about.

The Inspection Kit is if you ONLY want to take them apart and inspect them.
The DIY Stage-1 Kit is the basic Kit with ALL of the tools, instructions, o-rings, etc to take them apart and overhaul/upgrade them to Stage-1.
... so if I find something wrong, I just can order that parts, am I ok?
I'd suggest ordering just the Stage-1 Kit, go through them and see if you need any P&B's and/or nozzles and I can just sell you one or all of each, whatever you need.

To ensure another 230k miles, you need to seriously consider NEW injectors.
A good reman set with all new P&B's and nozzles, restored to proper spec should last that long if taken care of, but NEW injectors include many other parts NOT included in a reman set. If I was to throw in every new part I could, the reman injector would cost 50% MORE than a brand new set.
