My grille was bent to crap (see signature), after a hour or so hammering out the dents and welding a couple rips it started to look a whole lot better.
It was originally white, then black, then red by the time I got it. It's nothing permanent, just one of those "because I couldn't stand it looking ghetto and crooked" jobs, I'll probably buy a new grille when I actually get around to doing some real work on it, lol, either that or make something custom.
And yeah I know, the sun starts to set at like 4:30 and is pitch black by 5 this time of year, bit annoying... I'll have some better photos tomorrow.
Probably stay that way for a while, the trucks bound to get a coat of black epoxy primer too one of these days (though it will be red in the end of it all). The red is House of Kolors Blue Blood, I used it to paint my first truck, I had forgotten how red it really was... really makes the faded red on my truck look bad, lol, its not oxidized too bad, under the grill you can see where I just whipped a section for a split second to get something off... lol red oxidized = bright orange
Do kinda enjoy just doing whatever I want at this point instead of completely restoring it (time and money, neither I have at the moment, lol), if something happens its more of an "oh well" than having to fix something that was once finished.
Do have to replace the wiring in the headlights though, the rubber insulation basicly disintegrated and I don't like the chance of them touching and staring my truck on fire, ha.
The red you used is this the red you plan to use with the whole truck. The black go's good with it. I plan to go with black on the outside and the interor school bus yellow and black seats with some yellow in them.I think if you use this red color it will make you truck stand out and really look cool.
If I say nice things about your truck will you keep the snow out West? Not looking forward to it, when it snows, work on truck will become difficult. We're way behind in snowfall, and I like it. As much as I like the "in your face" red on the grill!
hey that looks sharp man ill have to stop by next time im home and take a look at your handy work. ment to stop by last week when i was home but never made it. you finding anything for the 4x4 converson
Yeah, working this time of year sucks, I don't have a place to work at the moment, live on the corner of two busy streets, and it reaches below -20 here sometimes. So basicly unless I can take it off and still have my truck look like I can drive it so I don't get a ticket I can't work on it, lol. Sucks.
That red, House of Kolors' Blue blood, is vibrant enough it hurts your eyes when you look into the can, lol. I love it. I might make it just a tad darker, maybe put only two coats over a black base, just because it's bright enough it can look a little orange from a distance, and I'm annoyingly picky.
No real luck on the 4x4 parts. Having to do everything in trade and not having a place to do anything isn't helping matters ha.
The irony is there is a huge church parking lot behind my house... where they won't let me park, maybe I can rent a space for a few weeks once I get some parts, lol still going to suck doing it outside at zero degrees and have the sun go down at 4:30, lol, but gotta do what you gotta do...
Thanks for reminding me why I live in Florida. 3+ inches of brilliant sunshine on the ground today and 80 degrees. (sorry) I do love Wyoming tho.. in the spring and summer.
lol, thankfully I'm a blacksmith and when my furnance is going it heats my whole shop real quick... though a couple years ago it was so cold I litterally ripped the door handle off my truck (not my '56)
