I have 2 10K pots. I keep them in a box under the hood. To tell you the truth I have it unplugged durring the winter months b/c it is harder to start w/resistance. I have never tried to adjust it while running. 2 10K pots turned up will get the exauhst HOT HOT! be carefull! This was a a lot bang for less than a buck! I would recommend the air mod and DP mod first. These are the "Crawl before the Run" mods. Like using windows 95 on a high speed internet connection, like a VW Bug on the autobahn (you get the picture).

Upper left hand corner clisk on "CP user" in the blue bar. Look on the left and click "edit signature" and throw in what you'd like.
Where is metairie anyway?

Yes me lol I wired a 10k pot in line just like the resistor would be I could turn it up or down and not set a CEL.

I am told that the cheep performance modules you see on EBay all the time are nothing but a 10k pot.

I feel naked driving w/o a spare! I modded the 100V to the 140V myself.....It wasn't to difficult to do. I would be angry if I sent it out to have done for the money they charge, I'd expect it to be popping wheelies! IF YOU DO THE IDM MOD..... I would go to a junkyard and and pull a IDM yourself...give it a shake and make sure there is no water in it. Buy it (about 50 bucks or so (make sure they know it is a IDM and not the PCM or brain/computer). Then bolt it in your truck and make sure it works. Then MOD the one you took out.
New Orleans huh?.... I think your Saints are going to hand my Skins their @$$ this Sunday!

how does it work, can you notice the difference as you adjust it? i heard that the ebay cheapies were just resistors in a $40 box.

I got my 10K pot from RadioShack for a few bucks. I cut the line and put on some male to female cannon plugs (from some old military generator fuel pump....I figure if it is good enough for the military, its good enough for me). I got and outside NEMA 3 single gang box/blank (an out side plug box with a cover). I then drilled a hole in the middle for the potentiometer and 2 hole in each side to feed the wire through. I then soldered the wires to the pot and cannon plugs and tapped them up real good.

I don,t use it anymore and stopped using this mod but yeah you could feel a change, this mod is ok but it is not a chip or tuner so don,t expect big gobs of power.

I don't think the mod killed it. It ran with the mod for 20K? miles. Then one morning at the ATM it just shut off! I changed the CPS and not smoke then changed the IDM and WOOOM! she started. I opened it up to see what I could see and saw nothing...I am going to reMOD the same one to see if it failed but I don't think it did.
