I started my truck up as usual a couple minutes ago and noticed a coolant puddle forming under the truck. I immediately turned the engine off and started taking a look underneath. On the driver's side I had a clear view of where it looked like it was coming from...the back of the head where it meets the block. On the passenger's side I don't have a clear view but can see it's coming from above the starter. It's definitely on both sides in the back. This is on a 2004 Excursion 6.0. I checked the coolant and it didn't look like it was mixed w/ oil. Also, there was no white smoke coming from the exhaust. I just drove the truck last night and didn't have any blown headgasket signs.
Do I have blown gaskets or is something else going on??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Most likely the EGR hose,it is in the valley just in front of the turbo on the passengers side.If it is leaking it is most likely red/orange colour. It is an easy fix twist lock.

Easy, once you get to it.
I agree that it's most likely that hose. Heads don't usually leak coolant externally.
Is the EGR hose you are referring to the one that goes from the degas bottle to the valley in front of the turbo? Or is there one that i'm not seeing?
When I look at the crease where the block and head meet in the back it's wet on both sides and stops 1/2" up. I see the wet spot going up to the area you guys are referring to but the valley up top is dry. (from what I can see).
Egr hose will be under the hose comng from the degas bottle. It's short look under the oil filter and a little to the passenger side you should see it.
I hope that's it, but you are getting a lot more coolant spraying around than most failures. Normally these start out as a slight drip down the passenger side rear of the block. But I guess it can fail all at once, like any other component. First picture below shows the hose.
I started the truck again hoping I could see where the coolant was coming from easier but unfortunately (or fortunately) it's not leaking now. I let it run till it came up to temp and saw nothing now. The EGR hose is a dirty version of the orange hose so maybe it is it but I can't explain why the valley below it is dry. Perhaps it's running down the line and not dripping into the valley?
Assuming I keep tabs on the coolant level, can I drive the truck to my shop (20 miles)?
Thanks guys! I'm going to take the truck to my shop tomorrow and see if I can figure things out. Hopefully the local Ford dealer stocks that part (probably not w/ my luck)! I'll update later tomorrow...
