75 F-100 4x4. 428 Cobra Jet. I have a number of symptoms. My alternator light stays on. When I rev the engine, the radio shuts off. Both of my high beams burned out within 30 seconds of each other, and my low beams seem to be extremely bright. If I don't kill the battery, it will drain overnight. I have replaced the alternator, the battery is charged. Could the voltage regulator be bad, and letting too much voltage through?

Well let's see, there are 3 things in the charging system besides wires. You've replaced two and still have the problem. FYI, always replace the altenator and regulator as a pair, otherwise a bad regulator can screw your new alternator and vice-a-verse-a. If the regulator doesn't fix it you need to start running ohms checks on wires.

As Bear stated. You should have approximatly 13.5 - 14.1 volts DC at the battery with the motor running at a fast idle with everything turned off. 13.9VDC is optimum. 15-16 VDC or above indicates a faulty voltage regulator. Undercharge is usually a defective alternator or bad wiring. Electricle loads are another topic.
