Ok here we go. I have a 2005 v 10 with 114000 on it. Just replaced the battery because it was bad. Got in it to go and went about 2 miles and it would die at idle. Looked in the book and it said I had to go through steps so the truck could self idle itself after a new battery. Did all that and still does not idle it just quits. At first the engine light was not on, now it is. Getting very tired of Fords any help would be helpfull.
Try to find out what the DTC code for the check engine light. Most major auto parts stores will read the codes out for you. Once you know what code its throwing - you'll have a better idea of where to look.
Did you remove the battery cable for a length of time (20 minutes??) before letting the computer reset itself? If not, I'd give that a try to see if it helps.
Did not show a code at autozone or advance auto. will disconnect the battery cable in the morning to see if that helps. It just seems really weird to me.
Well disconnected the battery cable, waited, went through the steps. It would idle fine until the engine warmed up then dies?????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????
Just occurred to me that you may be "fly-by-wire" (no direct connection between acccelerator & engine) - if that's the case you may not have a throttle position sensor. In either case, you may have a plugged Idle Air Control valve - which can be cleaned.
Grems4ever has it right, the idle air control most likely needs be cleaned. This is a more common issue I think if you used oil filter, i.e. K&N as the oil then makes dust cling to it and clogs up the IAC. Get some electrical contact cleaner get into the intake and spray off the IAC. Should be good to go after that.

You most likely have a failing/bad throttle body actuator motor. The actuator itself is not available separately from ford, but you can get ahold of a used drive-by-wire throttle body assembly from just about any of the V-8 engines, and swap just the actuator motor-most of them are a direct part interchange. I used one from an '05 Explorer 4.6L throttle body on my truck.

just went thru the same thing. it seems if the maf sensor is not pristine, when you disconnect the battery, it tries to relearn with a funky baseline from the maf. you can try cleaning the maf (research the tecnic before doing it), disconnecting the bat and ry again. also i believe there is a tsb about that problem, requiring a reflash of the computer.
