My question to you boy's, I bought a 99 sterling 10.5 rear end does someone make an axel for these to go back to the 8 on 6.5 wheel pattern or can a guy re-drill them to make them that? I want to put this in a 78 f250
You can have the hubs redrilled, however, it might be more cost-effective to order new/ junkyard hubs for a pre 99 Ford Truck. Just something to look into.
Not a bad idea, and my dad works at the local SALVAGE yard as the owner puts it he has a fit if you call it a junk yard,it's very comical!! thanks for the idea.
You are out of luck there too. The 99 Dana 50 and dual wheel dana 60 axle uses a unit type bearing and is completely different than the earlier axles.
Not going to be an easy way to do what you are trying to do.
got a 99 stearling 10.5 rear with disc brakes, want to put that into a 78 super cab but the wheel pattern is 8 on 170 mm instead of 8 on 6.5''. so I thought I might be able to change the rear hubs to a 97 wheel pattern or the 60 that's in the front to a newer pattern
I know you already purchased the metric axle, but I typically purchase sterling 10.25 rear axles for about 150 bucks and upgrade the brakes to discs for about 200. That is a total investment of 350 bucks for a complete axle, and I don have to worry about the headaches of using the metric stuff.
I checked on the adapters there 80.00 a piece and that will screw with the wheel offset! but I guess it's an option, but I think I'll just end up re-drilling the hubs for the 8 on 6.5
