Smooth rear bumper question

For those of you that have put a smooth rear bumper from a bronco onto your truck, what if anything did you do to the brackets to make them work? I have the right brackets but they don't stick out far enough and the bumper won't get even close before it hits the truck. Should I re-drill the bracket holes or what?

I would just weld the factory bronco brackets to the factory truck brackets.

Maybe get a piece if C channel that can slip over or into your frame rails to lengthen the frame a bit
