Prior to the F250 I owned a 1/2 ton Chevy since 1995 and have found that the 3/4 ton Ford does act completely different in 4x4 than the 1/2 ton Chevy. When the Chevy is in 4x4 on a hard surface you could tell it because of some slight skipping of the tires when turning, however the F250 takes this skipping to a whole new level. The first time I engaged 4x4 on the F250 I thought something was wrong, however after talking to several long time Ford owners I found out this was normal. For me the difference was somewhat due to the mechanics mentioned above and also due to the substantial increase in weight due to the diesel engine.
