Jumped in my rig the other morning about to head to work and when I switched on the headlights i noticed right off that part of the tach was not illuminated. Its from the 0 to around the 2, the rest of the dash a gauge lights work fine. how do i fix this issue. Another question, is it worth it to just replace the egr valve though no problems exist, sort of like a precautionary move. I have 104,000 miles on the truck. Thanks for the support
Tach, and also speedo light... intermittently on or off.
Also a brake warning light that comes on and goes (since fixed itself thought I did WD40 the emergency brake release switch.
Do you have a lot of corrosion / rust inside the vehicle / under the dash....
Look on the metal plates like the anti-dive barrier.
I am suspecting a lot of corroded connections (had to replace flasher on mine too) and intend on pulling the entire instrument panel, circuit / contact cleaner spray for all contacts and reassemble with contact lube / grease.
At same time, will replace every bulb with brand new ones.
the cluster does have blubls that can be replaced on the back of it. as far as replacing the egr valve thats not broken.... dont try to fix not broken. if you fell the need to do so then have the batteries tested.
