I am going to order some maint. stuff from Clay, but need to know which o-ring kit is for the drain valve on the fuel bowl. Also, do I order the black or the brown rings? Any input would be great and I didn't want to bother Clay this late. Thanks all
Fluorosilicone is widely used in the automotive and aerospace industries. The military has been using them in their aircraft for years and have been adopting them in land vehicles. Shelf life of the Fluorosilicone is 20 years whereas Viton is indefinite.
Fluorosilicone tears easier than Viton and some blends wear out rapidly.
You can find the inferior M25988/1 Fluorosilicone around but they are a softer material (Durometer 70) and do not hold up well for our drain valves. The M25988/2 are a harder Fluorosilicone that holds up great in the drain valve but will still tear if you try to stretch them too much. You won't find a bag of 20 M25988/2 anywhere, minimum special order is 700.
"In the automotive market, fluorosilicones are the seal material of choice for handling gasoline, E85, diesel fuel, biodiesel and ULSD at extremely low temperatures."
