Additional info. Just noticed today ( just starting to drive him now ) that I don't feel it till after he warms up. Seems to be okay when cold. Also has a rough idle ( shakes the whole truck ). Fairly certain I have an exhaust leak & loose pipe(S). Something sounds like a pipe rattling on the frame? driveshaft? at times. Also had the " rotten egg " smell for a little while tonight. Is my memory right this time, that's a symptom of crapalytic converter problems? Didn't last for a long time, may just have been something where I was. Just seemed to last too long to just be driving past something. Did clear up & go away, so I don't know. Been a little cool & / or cloudy to get out & do anything with him, plus additional problems ( house, not Old Rusty ) have me occupied right now. Forgot, seems more noticeable when I hit a hill & need to accelerate to maintain speed.

^^^Oh yeah, forgot to mention that. Jasper engines do tag all their motors, just a matter of finding where the tag is. Ive only delt with their reman cummins engines, not much help on your ford.
before you get too worried about anything though, check your ujoints, make sure their good, and make sure your fluid is full in everything (trans/tcase) and in good condition. Remove variables before making a conclusion
One sure way to tell if it is a Jasper motor, it will have a metal "Jasper" tag on the side of the block if it is.
Thanks for the info Dan. Did E-mail them after buying the truck & " lost in a divorce " to see what they could tell me. They said it was a sticker near the oil pan. Yours makes more sense, that would have to be some kind of heavy duty sticker to stay on there. Need to get under there & look for something.

2wd. Just had tranny flush & fill at tech school plus new filter. They also did diff. while it was there. Have only had it back a week & maybe 100 - 150 miles at a guesstimate.
Well my 1988 f 150 is like your truck and when it gets warmed up it shakes at 2000 rpm. I have read many different threads and others that have the same problem never have any luck finding whats wrong. So all i think you can do is try different stuff and i hope you have good luck finding whats wrong. Also on my truck i am starting to think that its a compreshion problem and this is causing low power in one cylindar and to make the engine shake under load.

Mine seems to do better at 2,000 & above. Had a compression check done. Final answer was 140 - 145 all cyls. If I ever get it figured out, will list what happend for everybody. Thanks for all the help / advice .
pat i'd put a scanner on it and go for a ride when its at operating temp.
and make it act up. another thing i would look at real close is the driveline. specifically the front u-joint.. a bad u-joint will cause a tranny to fail. its a vibration issue.
if you see any rust streaming out of a joint its bad. ok. its an idea or what to look for
is all..

Jack, had u-joints on my list to check. The rust coming out sounds like something to look for. Don't think the last guy believed in maintenance at all. Have a couple other things to check too. Making it act up is easy, just drive it. If I could just get motivated to do any of the stuff I need to. Still dealing with the basement mess. They just came to get the other load & move some of the blowers around.
