carburetor
so my next issue is now with the carb. i was wondering if anyone had a diagram or walk thru for the stock carburetor. tonight i was finally able to drive my 65 custom cab home. everything was going good with minor issues. first the top butterfly keeps getting tuck and i wanted to know the remedy to get it to properly work. i can assume that it is mainly for the choke (i'm not to experienced with carbs so bare with me please :] ). also to top that the bar the hooks on at top of it i noticed that it was snapped off from the whole butterfly assembly. so i asked my friend about what he did exactly with the whole carb assembly. it seems he just took it off to clean it . so i was wondering if connected everything right. so to the second problem. as im driving i had to ease the throttle almost to the point of barely touching it because if i applied too much pressure the engine would just die. while this is going on i keep hearing a large popping sound ( like a lid of a pot blowing off from pressure), which i honestly feelits that top butterfly shutter.
can someone please help. would even buying a new carburetor be in order. if so where can i find a stock one ( not really looking for preformance). after driving this truck i feel i've found a new love and appreciation for this truck. and if anyone can help me understand this truck more it would be appreciated.
the most i can tell you its a 1965 f100 custom cab, automatic, with the 352 block ( so i've been told).
thank you again
oh to finish tonights adventure..... i ws going up a hill about a mile up from house and i hit the gut wrenching redlight. i begin to go and the engine died again. lucky for good friends with AAA right

Posting couple links in event decide on a 'do it yourselfer'. Not familiar with the 2100 series but recently rebuild couple holleys. Found it best to designate a work area for the rebuild and make sure area is clean. I dissassemble and removed all components that could be damage by soaking in carb cleaner and let set overnight. If digital camera available may want to take couple pic's during disaasembly. When assembling, use air to clean out passages, be carefull don't want to launch a needle valve, spring, etc. If compressor is not available a can of compressed air, type used for cleaning computers, should work. Can't emphasis enough keeping area clean. Finally, compare price of rebuild kit, skill level to that of purchasing a rebuild.

(might check on a newer ford like bill said earlier i think 74 f-100) but they said they had to order it from a different company... so i will just rebuild it...

Ebay has a lot of sellers of rebuilt 2100s. They are generally very good. Prices run from 120.00 to 160.00. Make sure you get the same size carb the truck came with, as they ranged from .098 venturi's all the way to 1.23. The FTE forum on carbs and FI has a sticky at top listing the sizes and their CFMs.
Since the carburetor is obsolete, it can no longer be returned to Ford...which means the Dealers are STUCK with it.

. IMHO, stay away from Pony Carbs. Their $450 price for a rebuild is rediculous.
