I have a 1999 F250 SD Pickup with a V10. I recently replaced the transmission range sensor switch or sometimes referred to as the manual lever position switch because my service engine soon light was on and the analyzer indicated a P0705 an P0708 error. After I replaced the sensor and reset the error code, it came back after a short time. When there is a failure the the automatic transmission jerks or jumps when it shifts between gears from 1st to overdrive. Even with the service engine soon light on the transimssion shifts smoothly when the vehicle is cold. After I drive a few miles and the truck warms up, then it starts jerking again when it shifts. Could it be that I bought a faulty sensor of do I have some other problem. Any advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the reply Mark and Krewat. Is there a wiring diagram available online that shows the TRS and the PCM? Where abouts is the PCM located? Do all of the wires from the TRS go to the PCM or do they go to multiple places? I assume I just need to do a continuity check from point A to Point B.
Also as a reply to Krewat's question about adjustment. I did have the truck in nuetral when I replaced the TRS and I did have the markings on the TRS lined up. I have not tried to play with moving it off the mark some to see if it makes a difference. The Backup light works correctly when the indicator is in reverse and the other gears indicate correctly. Also would an adjustment make a difference when the vehicle is cold vs. warmed up because it works correctly when the vehicle is cold.
