Just curious about my keys. Im going to get a couple more spare keys for my truck. Does anybody know if my truck has a chip in the key itself. Ive talked to some an said yes they do an others do not. My truck is an 2003 7.3 Reg cab. Thanks for the help guys.
look at the top of the key and see if it looks like there is a spot you could pry out like an access point. If so then it has a chip in it. If the plastic is solid and no "access" point then no it doesn't.
you shouldnt have a PATS key for your truck. you should be able to go to lowe's or wherever and get one cut for a couple bucks.......
i did however just have to get a PATS key made for my focus and it cost me 120 bucks at the dealer and that was just a plain jane key. my fusion has the key and fob all in one so i bet that one would run me somewhere near 300 to buy and program..........
If you have 2 keys already you don't need to have the dealer program the third. (as told to me by the dealer friday when they made an extra for my ranger) You DO however have to get the blank from Ford and it's about $25 for the blank. Anyone can cut it after that.
