depending on what grab bar you get if you get the clip that they use to thread the cap bolts into and use a dremal tool you can cut a hole and slide those clips in and then bolt your grab bar into that you may have to shorten the bolts but it would hold it you can get those clips and bolts from lomc truck relitivly cheap and i agree i want to see pics also im debating doin it to my 79 to get a grab bar i would either see if you can get a after market one or go to the local junk yard and see if you can find one you like another way is to drill and tap a hole to what ever size the original bolts are for the grab bar you get and just line up were you want it and center punch it so you know exaclt were to drill
what they do on newer cars is if there is molding or not it shouldnt matter because there should be a metal plate behind the molding but i know in the 79 of mine that there deffinaely is a metal plate pull your head liner out and if you have molding pull it off there should either be a metal plate or part of the door frame you should be able to mount it within about 2-8 inches of the door but make sure if you have moulding you pull it off and see but it shouldnt be hard and you can probably mount it between the windshield and door on the column all the way up tothe ceiling about any were going up and down or front to back on my rangers that were 98 and 04s they had 2 small bolts one at easch end and they just went thru the moulding and into the column and it shouldnt matter what make or model you should always have metal behind the trim and moulding the reason that darn plastic is there it to make it look good and hide the seems in the metal and what not i would rather see the quality that ford did though when you go to the junk yard if your pulling the parts take the trim off on a close year model bronco to yours and you should be able to learn how to do yours with out goofing up your trim

can a grab bar be mounted above the passenger door on the inside? if yes,how to install. thanks
Man, my wife has been bugging to do this for years! Every time we go out, I just strap one of those velcro grab-handles around the top of my window, but it would be nice to have a permanently mounted handle!
I've looked everywhere, but can't seem to find any aftermarket options. Some people have recommended hitting a wrecking yard to get the mounting hardware for a factory grab-handle, and then buying a replacement handle from a dealership so that it looks good.
The pair that I have to mount on mine are from a marine accessory store. Boat grab handles are usually made of stainless steel and will hold up in the elements forever. But then I intend to mount these to the outside of the truck on the "B" post. My wife is only 5'1" and she has no trouble getting in the truck unless she is dressed up. Skirts and heels and tall trucks... they don't go well together, well as far as she is concerned... its never bothered me!
check JC Whitney catalog they have all kinds of grab bars and there tech support number is very helpful and yes with an older bronco there is plenty of metal under your headliner to mount one to.
