New here - 2002 Excursion Ltd PSD
In June when I come back to the states, I am going to buy an closed trailer. I do not know how much I will be able to afford but would like to be able to put a mustang in it atleast. I can always upgrade later, but would prefer an enclosed trailer. I will be driving to Kansas City from Georgia to pick up the car to head to our next base. The mustang weighs 3k and I have no idea how much a trailer like that weighs. I like overkill with a budget. What type of stuff do I need for my excursion to make that happen? I have the RAS, shocks, and towing mirrors on my list. Do I need brakes for the trailer? How do I control those? Do I need a specific type of hitch or hitch add-ons? If you can put together a small list of things that I would need to pull. I need to head over to the towing section to figure more things out!
BTW - I like websites you recommend so there is no question about what I need to get. My excursion folder is full of recommended websites from guys on here!!
I learned a bit about airbags, aux tranny coolers, bigger tranny pans, 6.0 tranny and 6.0 intercoolers, ST rated tires..... and some other stuff. Just don't know what I need versus what would be nice. What do I need right away? That is a good start. Let's say I'm towing 10k including trailer.
If the Mustang & trailer are less than 5k together you don't require a WD hitch, but it's not a bad idea to be ready to tow more.
You have time, so research WD, lots of info here. Look for X_Hemi_Guy's posts.
Thanks for your service
