New 03 Excursion owner

With the demise of my Yukon XL (I was rear-ended by a tractor trailer while stopped in traffic on the PA Turnpike two weeks ago) I found myself on a quest for a new general purpose large SUV. I should point out that I have a 2001 Blazer, as well as this new vehicle, for day-to-day activities that don't need a bigger vehicle.

Anyway, after driving a whole lot of vehicles, from the Nissan Armada, through Toyota Tundra, to Ford F150 and a few late model Yukons and Suburbans, the winner, based on needs and value ended up being a 2003 Ford Excursion Limited.

The truck is in excellent condition with only 60K miles and came with a 90 day warranty. It has the 6.8L V10, towing package, leather interior, remote starter, security code door locks, roof rack, bucket seats in the front, 2nd row is 60/40 bench.

Here's a few pictures from the dealer's website. It's getting new tires on Monday and I'll be picking it up later in the week so no pics from me yet.

Oh yeah. $13,500 OTD (including taxes, tags, state fees)

I'll be reading through the threads and trying not to post any questions that have been asked ad infinitum.

Welcome! Ask as many questions as you like! Doesn't matter as long as the question isn't already on the first page. (Seen that before. )

Nice truck! There's a number of fellas here who have that exact truck.

Unless you know for certain the maintenance records, I would schedule a tranny fluid change.

Did you or a mechanic go through the truck? Everything in order?

Congrats

The X looks very nice to me, congrats.

Now for a stupid question I have:
How come some 03 Excursions have a FORD emblem on the Right Rear Door and in the center of the grill and SOME DON'T???????????
I have a Black 03 with no FORD EMBLEMS on it and have seem several minus the EMBLEMS..........

Too funny, I am hoping we didnt buy the same truck! I am picking up my 03 X, same color, nearly same miles this afternoon.

Have been lurking around the list for quite some time, and really appreciate the info and that the search function actually works well on this forum.

I will post some pics once I get the thing home and settled.

I also have the exact same truck (V-10 4x4 90k miles)...got mine this past July and we just love it. I'm trying to address the wandering issue. I have tightened the steering box, replaced ball joints and installed Roadmaster Active Suspension with very little improvement. Probably do shocks and sway bar next. The truck doesn't even compare to the extended cab 1/2 ton Chevy It replaced. We like the big Ford alot.

Congradulations!!

Some of the black ones may have smoked emblems (aftermarket).

If you have NO emblems at all then they were removed by the previous owner. Odd, since they are recessed in, the recess would have to be filled in. Lots a work...which is why I still have mine.

I already sent for the info pack on the Radius Rods

I'm going to try to avoid the urge to start modding, but suspension upgrades are always a positive thing.

Welcome to the board. I've been a member for a while with a F150 I used to have but I just recently picked up a X myself.
