Call it a mall crawler all you want but I've ran it through it's paces, and it has performed way better than expected for a close to stock ranger. No it doesn't have a solid front axel, 44's , a V8, or custom suspension, but it gets me through the trails just fine and is a reliable daily driver. Besides everyone knows that mall crawlers either say jeep on them or have 15 inches of lift using blocks and no front drive shaft.
I liked the 02 that I used to have. Wish I had pics of it, but it had a body lift and 33s. It did fairly well, except for the electric transfercase, but with your fx4 level 2 I believe you have the manual version. I'm now on my third ranger and it's not stock, but i tend to have issues with stock. It's more of an allergic reacion actually... but props for atleast wheeling yours. Many people can't even take their pickups out that have over 10K in the suspension cause they don't want to scratch it!
I wish I had the manual but it's on of the level II's with an auto. That being said, I've only had one time where the electric 4x4 t-case would not work, but I just had back up a little to get the gears to mesh. One day if I can find a good deal on one i'll install the manual t-case. I am not afraid of scratches thats for sure, It's got so many scratches and dents that it looks better dirty than clean. I remember takin it wheelin when it still had paper plates on it. Some things I've done to make more trail friendly, were first the BL and 33"s. Then I made some Sturdy front and rear bumpers, and new front skid. Made a spare tire carrier, so I could have a full size spare, It's got winch wireing for a reciever mount winch front and rear, swapped the clutch fan out for an e-fan from a taurus, and installed a high amp alt. to handle the extra load. I plan on doing an sas in future but i need to pay it off first and get somethin else for dd.
I remember joining this site. I had some ridiculous question and look at me now. I love it. The size of this site is pretty good, and for the most part you will get any help you ask for.
