I need to replace from steering parts on the front of my 1985 f350. I see in all of the parts books that there was a change that took place in 2/85 - 87 in which they used a 22mm thread which is not serviced. How can I tell when my truck was built?
Just to clarify, The Safety Certification Lable, it's the white lable, located on the Driver Door "B" pillar on the cab, right below the door striker bolt.
This will have the build date, and any other codes you may need to service your truck from when it was built.
I found it. I had looked on the white door sticker previously. The date code of 6-12-85 is on a clear part of the sticker. Does anyone know where to get the 22mm thread design parts? I hate to replace the entire front end.
It is a US model f350 4x4 dually. All of the parts book I have show a 22mm design used from 2/85 up to 87 and they say that you must used the later 1" thread design parts as the 22mm are not serviced? LMC TRUCKS, NATIONAL PARTS DEPOT, AND BLUE OVAL TRUCK PARTS.

First Off,
Your F350 is going to have a twin traction beam front end, which was used in F350 4x4's from 1980- feb. 1985. After said date, Ford switched all F350 4x4's to the Dana 60 Monobeam solid axle front end.
Your F350 has a Dana 50 ttb if I'm not mistaken, the same as used in F250 HD 4X4's (8800 GVWR) from 1980-1997.
So the parts from the front end of an F250 HD 4X4 *should* be the same as what's in your F350. (I'm not %100 sure)
Try comparing parts diagrams between your truck and that of an F250 HD and see if the parts are the same.

His truck was built in June 1985, after the switch to solid axle. (feb. 1985) So he does have a Dana 60 front axle. The part that confuses me is the 4x4 and dually. I didn't think they made a dually 4x4 that year?
I bought the truck off of the original owners wife. He had deceased. The truck was ordered brand new. It was a cab and chassis only from the factory. The truck was sent from the Ford Dealer to ACE and had a machanics bed put on it before it was even taken delivery of by the owner. The mechanics bed was still on it when I first looked to buy it. I was not interested in it so it was taken off and sold. I put a steel flatbed on it.
