Recall
My mother in law passed on a couple years back from leukemia, probably brought on by radiation exposure. She was in Hiroshima on The Day and survived but lost a brother and sister to it. Her father was killed early on in the war and never they never met each other. Unfortunate situation for everyone concerned no matter where you were born.
Annnnyway, chalk another one up for the online community. I went out this morning and while I could find no fuse #34 as mentioned by someone earlier, when I pulled the plug from the pressure switch wouldn't you know it had brake fluid in it. The harness had a red tag on it saying that it had a non user serviceable fuse in it and that in the case of failure get part #9F-924. Luckily the local dealership had some in stock. I ran an picked it up for $20 and change but was a bit concerned because it didn't look much like the one that was in my truck.
The one I picked up was about 6" long with the correct plugs on each end and included a new pressure switch. The one in my truck was about 3-4" longer. It also looked as if it had been "hacked" for lack of a better term. In spite of saying it had a non serviceable fuse upon closer inspection (cut of a gob a tape) I found an inline blade style fuse holder with a good fuse inside.
I don't know if it was a early factory quickly slapped together fix, or maybe a factory harness that had blew its fuse and some enterprising mech chopped it out and put a fuse holder in it for future ease of maintenance. In any case I'm hanging on to it just for giggles.
I plugged my new harness in, replaced the switch and I'm good to go. Took about 10 minutes all told and even though I have a warranty on the truck it has a $100 deductible so I saved myself about $75.
I proudly relayed this savings to my wife thinking she might be impressed with my cost saving mechanical skills. Her response was "good, you can take me out to dinner tonight". That's another thing Japanese women excel at...eating and spending money.
