Unfortunatly someone pulled out in front of me the other night. My bumper went over there hood and the tire/axle took the brunt of the impact..
The not sure if the housing is bent but the pinion gear is snapped off just inside the seal.. Repair shop say's the would just replace the whole axle with a good used.. My question would be what is the difference with the early/later 99 front end?? Same for the leaf springs. anyone know what was different?

Seriously, damn dude that really sucks. The Sable is about a loss. I hate to hear of people getting hit or pulled-out-in-front-of. In all honesty, I'm surprised that the differential pinion shaft broke instead of the transfer case housing.
I sure hope you're not feeling too banged-up today since that had to hurt.
I'm no expert but that looks to me like a simple parts replacement candidate. Axle tubes are not very strong and they do bend quite easily. I'd call it junk since it's likely bent bad enough to cause spline wear on the side gears. It would be align-able but the damage you can't see makes all-out replacement a better idea.
As far as differences go between the E99 and 99.5-up front axles go, the brake rotors and hub bearings are different. It's going to be a D50 and you'll have issues finding a D60 in an F-250 up until '02. Some had them, but most had D50s.
Replace the front springs (and hangers), the steering box (since the sector shaft is snapped off), the front driveshaft because it's likely to be bent too, and the bumper, bumper brackets, and the fender(s).
As long as you find the front end out of your donor truck you will have everything you need to make the swap. You can use anything from 99-04, and it doesn't matter if it is D50 or D60. If you need some new stuff I have a D50 out of my Early 99 if you need it. Let me know.
