Hello, I am trying to see if anyone might know the problem I am having. I went to start my pickup this morning and it won't start. It's a 2002 F-350. When I turn the key it sounds like a drill. Yesterday I started it and there was a squeeky sound which I thought was the belt, but then when it wouldn't start this morning I don't know. I called Ford and they told me to bring it up there to look at it, but I have no way right now to get it up there. I just thought I could get a better idea of what it was. Thanks.
Starter mounting bolts loose?
Not uncommon for these trucks, could sound like a drill when turning and not engaging the ring gear.
Or the solenoid is going out and the starter is just spinning. Try giving the starter a couple of taps with a hammer and see if it will let it engage the flywheel.
Thank you for the reply. I will check that option.
Welcome to FTE.You will be better off listening to these un-official Ford technicians on here. They do not make aliving working on PSD's but their knowledge together is unlimited
