We boght a truck and am trying to figure out how to tell if is "snow-fighter" 79......what would be the way to determine if my truck was one of those. We have a 79...high pinion front 60 with 3.54 gears front and back.It is an extended cab also.351m and auto....bought it for the nice plow already on it.have now discovered how well equipped the ol gal was.glad we snached it up.
I dont know either. What is weird is the optional 3.54 ratio.Just not many that did not get 4.10.Someone had to have ordered this truck specifically I believe.
Does it have cab running lights? Big radiator? I f I rememberr right when I ordered mine those two things came with the snow fighter package. I didn't want cab lights so I just ordered the dana 60 front as an option. Not sure about extended cab. I was just interested in regular cab when I ordered mine, that is all I researched about.
Snow plow prep package included:
70 amp alt
Dana 60 with 4500lb springs
frt/rr sway bars
hd shocks
clearance lights
There's probably a few things I've forgotten. A while back somebody scanned the page with the details for the snow plow prep package from the 79 truck RPO book and posted it here. If you do a search you might find it. I think I saved a copy of it. If I find it, I'll post it in a reply.
Yea...Tanks very much for the info.I do not think we have the plow prep package.
no trans cooler extra,am installing one since I had noticed before it did not have and I believe it to need one badly.
also no cab lights.
am going to check on front gvw raring for springs.
My uncle has a 1978 F-250 Ranger extended cab with a D60 front axle. It always told me it was a snow plow package. If anyone wants the vin or any other numbers just let me know and I'll get them.
EDIT.
I meant to say that my uncle always told me that the truck had a snow plow package.
A D60 does not designate that it was a Sno-fighter. You could order a heavy duty front axle seperately.
Ah, my above quote. I meant to say, HE always told me it was a snow plow package. The way I wrote it, it sounded like because of the D60, that tells me..... Thats not what I meant.
