Fuel sending Unit Question

It depends. If the float is bad, a new one will fix it. They just snap on.
If the armature is bad. Most comon problem. Then a whole new sending unit is required.

And yes, you can use a 1980-1984 tank in your 1985-1986 if it's carbed. Then you can use the 1980-1984 parts. Not sure how involved a change it would be though.

Alright just placed in order through LMC for my 85 5.8L Fuel sending unit. Was only $83.70 for the part($69.95) and shipping($13.75). The part number is 43-4037 if your interested.
