I just bought a 71 f250 for my senior project. I just finished putting a 73 mustang engine into it but the rest is tore a part. What i need now is four matching rims for my 71 f250 8 lug truck. I dont care what kind as long as there in good shape and they are cheap. Help me please!!
Id recommend checking your local craigslist always an interesting deal there, I think that your truck shares a bolt pattern with a newer 8 lug I wanna say it's got the same bolt pattern as a dodge 8 lug, or a superduty not sure someone else could probably help you out their with interchangeability, but shouldn't be hard to find if you know your bolt pattern.
The bolt patern is the same as a h2 hummer but the center has to be enlarged. It should be 8 on 5.5(I think) what ever the hummer is, and I would bet many other GM trucks. The newer Fords are a little off, you can get them and have them drilled out and fit, I have seen it done. Good luck.
These rims are easy to find. I thought that 92? Ford or newer are NOT a perfect match. Center hole size is something you have to watch out for. Dodge and chevy 8 bolt (and apparently hummer) are smaller. Any good wrecking yard should be able to help you out.
This is an old-style 8 lug pattern, 8 x 6.5". Newer than 96 or so are 8 lug x 170mm, and will not fit. The center bore on the Ford wheels is 5.15", I believe. You need to know this because you will come across a lot of 8 lug trailer wheels and Chevy wheels, which have a 4 7/8" center bore, and will not fit around your hubs without modification.
There is an endless supply of 16.5" rims out there, if someone has 4 of them, they might even pay you to haul them away, but tires are harder to come by/more expensive than 16's.
I looked high and low for a cheap set of 16 inch rims for my 68 when the 16.5 tires were worn- the narrower centerbore wheels are a lot easier to find, but the big-holes aren't too tough to come by if you know what you're looking for.
Sure does look like they'll work and they have the perfect center bore as well 5.15" just as Despres had said. I think they look decent as well especially for the price $60 a pop isn't bad. What about these, they are a bit cheaper and look just as good Cragar 3155880 - Cragar Nomad II Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com
