When installing a MSD system in my 1986 4.9L powered F150, the directions recommend the use of 1 range colder spark plugs. The emmisions sticker indicates BSF-42 as the original plug. What is today's equivalent to 1 range colder, preferably in Motorcraft?
I found an old post stating that BSF-32 is the colder range. Numbers change as the years go by.
Some threads have mentioned the use of later model fuel injected 4.9L plugs as they reach further into the incoming fuel/air stream and "act" cooler as the heat is swept away. No mention is made as to being an interference issue. Has anyone any current experience with this practice? Would one simply ask for plugs which are for a 1987 or later 4.9L?
