What has happened to all the good posts in this section? Only nine pages now. When I first came on there was hundreds of good posts of info . I'm really disappointed. I used to spend hours here gathering info' now I'm in and out in minutes.
Maybe we've covered everything. I've noticed the same thing on other boards. I've noticed many posts are questions that have been asked and answered a hundred times. Maybe most newbies are doing a site search and finding their answers without posting. Maybe the economy has an affect also, maybe we're not able to afford to work on our vehicles as much as we could a year ago so we don't run into problems that need answer.
I've noticed that the forum seems to go through phases of very active and fairly boring.
As Bob mentioned thee are the usual same five threads that come up weekly: Will this overdrive fit my truck; my gas gauge doesn't work with this sending unit; what do I have to do to put a big block (460) in my truck; what rear end gearing do I need to drive on the freeway; and, Newbie here I have a question (and it's usually one of the last four).
And that's great! I think with winter coming on, the summer seasonal car shows and events over and it getting dark early now, folks are just slowing down - FTE semi-hybernation.
Folks just seem to chat when the boards are slow - less technical.
And, this seems to be one of those threads!
I will add that as a somewhat newbie around here I do appreciate the fact that if I ask a question that may have been covered a million times, I don't get a gruff "look it up on the search engine" type of response...While I'll admit to being a little lazy on a computer, sometimes re-introducing a topic can be a good icebreaker in getting involved in this type of forum...

I agree with you as I am somewhat new here myself, I like reading the repeat post as I miss things sometimes . The ones that have been on here probably do get bored sometimes reading the same thing every few weeks , but it's new and interesting to the first timers. Before I got involed much, I went back about 10 years and started reading, it's still interesing to go back and read the old post. There is a lot of repeat stuff. There is a lot of new stuff updating the old stuff which I like. I haven't had good luck with the search engine, so I look for repeat subjects about what I am wanting to do . I hope that the bored ones will have patience with us .
Being a newer guy here who has asked 3 of the 4 questions Julie mentioned (yeah now I feel stupid) I would agree with Jim and Simon. When I ask my question, that apperently everybody asks, I do so after trying ever search variable that I can think of. Once I have searched then I post my question for my specific vehicle and my specific problem that might have been touched on in another thread but either didnt go into it enough or was for a different year that I am not sure is the same as mine. I especially feel this happens a lot with the 57-60 guys because our trucks arent as popullar and thus havent been posted about as much. Plus so much of the stuff on our trucks are different but so much is the same it is hard to know if we can go off of the info for a 54 or 56 that might have been written up last year. I love this place and leark here all the time and read about things that have nothing to do with my truck and probably never will because I love to know how things work and this gives me a way of learning so much from so many with a great deal of knowledge. So if it seems like the same topic is coming up a lot, maybe take a look at what is being asked and seeing if you can help because it maybe simular but that doesnt make it the same.
well hopefully by next weekend i can post some pics of some serious metal bashing on my cab once i finally get to go home and work on it for a whole nine days. Thanksgiving break from college that is 5 hours away yay. cant wait till saturday to get started and hopefully ill make some progress. and for my part of the country (snowy wyoming) winter always seems like the time of year when everyone is going full bore on their projects. so maybe everyone is out in the shop working away with the answers to the questions they asked during the summer. or it could be the economy

There were some forum guidelines written up a few years back to help with searching. Something about not mentioning the subject in the title but always mentioning 'Ford' and '1956' I just can't put my finger on it...
To me it seems more production to use Google to find something for a subject that was discussed here. The search feature of this site is slow, limits the time in between searches and won't allow new comers to use it until they have 25 or more posts.
Until recently, its been a while for me being on here, just due to time and lack of working on my truck, but I started redoing it a few weeks ago and started logging on to see what is going on and all, I was suprised, It seems like no one is on here anymore, But I am also on the hamb board and there is Too much going on there. I personaly like FTE better because you are not talking to just anybody, you are talking with FORD TRUCK People that are or have gone through the same things that I am going through.I just dont get it. I hope it picks up around here!
I for one havent done a thing to my truck since February short of gathering some parts and doing some dreaming. Its been a crazy busy year. I barely got around to making it to any cruise nights or swap meets. I just didn't have much extra time or money. I'm hoping that I can start b ack on the truck. I tend to get more work done in the winter time anyway.
I don't mind seeing the same questions come up all the time...either by newbies or seasoned users. Someone always has a new and innovative way to solve the problems and I tend to learn something each time I start reading posts here.
Funds (being retired isn't very lucrative) and racing taking the extra time and extra money we have has put a damper on much of my truck building this year. Now that the racing season is pretty much over I have been preparing the shop to restart the truck project.
There doesn't seem to be as many people asking questions or needing suggestions either.
