turbo's go overboost when the vgt hangs up.
I had just finished a truck and was going off for a road test...
As I was gettin on the on amp there was a motor officer writing a ticket.
At that very moment I lost the hot side tube and the clamp broke on it.
Scared the crap out of that poor cop.
I've blown them in my semi and they sound just as bad.My wife was in the front seat my 6 and 3yr daughters were in the back seat almost crying it was so F....... loud.I didn't cry until I seen the dent. They call it daddys stupid truck now.LOL
RyanR... Your first post mentions your warranty was up and you only have 12000miles & 471 hrs?? I'd like to know what dealer gave you all that extra work on the truck because my warranty is done in 10K. Love to have them tear my whole truck apart and rebuild it for only a couple small issues.
If you want you can drop me a PM with the info. I'm close enough to Ft.Mac that I would run the truck up for that kind of work.
I would think that an 07, even if the original in service date would have the engine waranty until 2011...but thats just me and my weak technition math. I also agree with Cheez, if you asked me if it was my first day youd be pullin a pry bar out of you a$$. If your dealer did all of that for you I would be pleased and be a little nicer to the tech.
Now if you know the tech and he knew you were being sarcastic thats another story and you should have stated so, I dont think the pipes comming off and denting the hood is a prevelant problem, I have had the boot come off and never dented my hood.
I cant edit my post, If the original inservice date was in 06 there should still be a warranty on the engine until 2011, so with 12k on it you have time.
I had a helper at one point that was complaining he could get a cac boot on. I told him to put luberplate on the boot and slide it on. He really did it. The boot poped off 4x when he started the truck. lmao
Well got the truck back today.Tech put truck on computer and found truck made almost 4psi boost at idle.Should be around 2 or so upon command at idle.Tec replaced "UNICEN RING" in turbo which had some very weird groves worn into it,and was gettin hung up which was causing viens to stick and create overboost upon heavy load.He says very common. He said turbo was very clean inside.I thought dirty turbo caused problem, but according to tech no.Anyways thought i would shed light on what was causing this overboost problem. The overboost must come on as a sudden spike in boost because i never noticed high boost pressures on gauge.(STOCK GAUGE)
