Hey guys i was wondering, i just got done installing a set of hedman headers, with 2.5 dual outs. I am trying to figure out how to run both exhaust pipes up and over the tranmission cross member. What have you done in this instance? I am exiting the passenger side before the rear tire. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Also more pics coming soon of new mods and lowering ect.
It can be done but it's a tight fit, I did it on my 84 F150 with the same headers. I wish I had some pics to send you, I ended up cutting and welding sections of pipe together to make it happen... worked out fine.
where the pipes stacked on top each other over the tranny crossmember? I am thinking of taking to exhaust shop to let them bend the pipes. What other mods have you done to your truck?
I can't remember because I have changed it since then. I want to say I had the pipes set up on a diagonal then I made a Y-pipe to bring them together. It worked out pretty well, I had a SI/DO 40 series Flowmaster with 2.25" duals and 3.5" tips. It sounded nice especially at idle. The motor is built for torque: bored .040" over, RV cam, stock bottom end and head, Edelbrock 500 4bbl, Offy DP intake, Hedman headers, DUI HEI conversion. It's not a speed demon but it will pull anything you put behind it and climb almost anything you point it at. It's an 84 f150 4wd (actually under reconstruction right now) : 6" suspension lift, 35" Baja Claws, 4.10 gears, Locked rear, LS front, granny 4 speed... it's tank. Hopefully I'll have her done this summer, she is undergoing a total frame off rebuild.
Cool you arent wanting to sell any of your performance parts are you? haha Will you look and see if you have any pictures as well of the exhaust? Thanks again.
Sorry I'm not looking to sell any of the go fast goodies, in fact I too am looking for more. I want to build another 300 for this truck with a few more num nums. I have been taking pics of my restoration project and want to start getting some of them posted in my gallery.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of MPG did you see with this setup? I'm only getting 10 with my stock 300/6, 235/75/R15's and 2wd. It's kind of pissing me off since I don't go over 55mph either.
The last time this truck was on the road I was running 33s on it with the same gearing and a 4" lift I was getting around 16-17 mpg. However that was with a Holley 2bbl carb and driving fairly conservatively. The biggest thing that hurts the carbed 300s is the lack of breathing. The stock 1bbl carb, intake, and exhaust manifolds really choke these motors down. My mileage ALMOST doubled after installing the carb, intake, and headers.
Well i think i am going to take my truck into a muffler shop and see how much they will charge me to bend and install the pipes and then when i get it home i will weld on my mufflers to the pipe. I am hoping by feb. i will have my new offenhauser intake with a eldebroc carb 500 cfm. Did you look at my pictures? I have lots more body mods to do before next summer to get it ready for paint.
