Hey guys, just a quick question here. I need to replace my TFT sensor as I've got the "check guage" light on as well as the Tow/Haul light on (flashing) Everything I've read here is pointing me in the direction of the TFT sensor.
With that said, I called my local dealer, and they quoted me $91.00 I was like So, my question is this: Does that sound right to you guys, and if not, where can I order one, because so far, all the auto parts stores around me don't have it, so I'm thinking it's either going to be through the local dealer, or online somewhere. Also, what about the Mercon SP fluid? Where are you guys getting your stuff at?
I think the only place your going to get it is at a Ford dealer. The last price on one 9 months ago was about $78 I got one for a jobber price of $47. You can put several thousand dollars worth of these TFT sensors in your shirt pocket, thats how small they are.
When you replace it make sure you turn the old one 90 degrees and pull it down with a needle nose pliers. The end of the TFT sensor is T shaped with an O ring on the end of it, this is what locks it in. Make sure your face is clear when removing the old one because you will get a gush of fluid that will drain out.
No problem. In return, when you get the part number, come back and post it for others to find in the future. And if you are really energetic, take a few photos of the job and post them here.

I had the flashing Tow Haul light on the return from a recent camping trip pulling a large fifth wheel. I read a number of threads here and had the exact symptoms described. I changed the TFT sensor and it solved the problem. I chose to respond to this thread because it has the best link to technical information about replacing the sensor. See post #7 above.
