Trans Problems- Codes n flashing lights

Hey guys,
I recently had my TFT Sensor go out on me. I replaced it and all seems to be well.
When I go into tow/haul mode, after about 5 minutes of driving my tow/haul lights starts flashing. I pulled the codes and I am getting
P0730- Incorrect gear ratio
P2700- Trans Friction Element A Apply Time Range/Performance

Talked to my guy at the local dealer and he said it might have to do with a solenoid gone bad in the trans.
It only comes on in tow/haul mode. Other than that the trans shifts fine and gives me no problems or warnings. I erased the codes and now dont really know what to do.

Do you guys think its ok to drive it since it seems to only be a tow/haul issue for now? If anyone can shine some light onto the situation it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

When was the trans fluid and filter last changed? Is it using Mercon SP?

Im guessing it was changed when ford dropped the pan to do the TFT Sensor. There was no apparent problems in tow/haul mode before this fix.

Before that the last trans fluid/filter change was in April.

Just went thru something similar with mine. My "rebuilt" trans had codes right away.
P0730- Incorrect gear ratio
P27XX- Trans Friction Element B Apply Time Range/Performance

Mine turned out not good. The shop took it back, "went thru it all" and said the new trans was fine. I still got codes and no overdrive. In the long run they rebuilt my original one and it is good so far.

Might want to pull your filter up front and see what the fluid looks like. Or go ahead and drain it into a clean tub to see. You can always put it back in using clean tub.

I might just take it in to have a trans fluid and filter change. It needs an oil change anyways.
Looking at the fluid at the bottom of the dipstick, it looks brand new and smells fine, so i dunno...

If you are going to take it in to someone, you could look for an "honest" transmission shop in your area. Around here they charge less than $50 to drop the pan and look at it for you. The reason I say that is when my first trans quit I didn't see a problem with the fluid from justthe dipstick.

There is a transmission area here in FTE. You could also try posting there.

After you erased the codes the next step is to drive it and see if they come back.

I did erase the codes and they did come back when i went into tow/haul mode. I erased them again and have been driving since, and have not put it into tow/haul mode and the truck drives fine. Would a transmission fluid and filter change potentially help? Weird that it happens right after i drop the pan to do the TFT sensor. No problems before this.

Possibly a transmission wire harness issue?

Yes it could be a wiring issue. There is a troubleshooting chart in the Ford manual that will lead you to the cause.

Is the manual online? I don't have one. Could it be the harness that most people switch out when they replace the TFT sensor? Or another harness? Which one would throw those codes. Dont know how I would correlate the problem and codes to a specific harness...

If the manual is online I haven't found it. You can buy one at Service Manuals, Owner Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Service Bulletins - Helm Incorporated
