Do you guys think these corners let off enough light in the day time with the stock bulb? Does anyone have them, pics with them on?
I've read that you are to take out the screw on the top and they slide out, I tried that but mine aren't sliding right out, looks like they will need some force?
Look at my gallery, I have pictures of the clear corners on my truck with the lights both on and off. The corners do slide out after removing the screw - with a little coaxing. The ones you have pictured from ebay are not clear corners because they have all the groves and prisms in them.
Whatever they are called I like them over the real euro looking clear ones like you got. They will match with my stock headlights which I would like to keep for now. Thanks for the reply.
i'm not sure on the legalities of it but those don't have the orange reflector that are found on the front of these trucks, i think they are needed to be dot approved. i've never heard of anyone getting pulled over for this but just something else before you buy. Have you thought of looking into lighting/harley davidson corners? I think they are sharper looking than the ones you are looking at. you may have come across them in your searches but those with a special bulb that is silver when the corner lamps aren't in use but amber colored when in use would look nice.
The point of me getting them is to get away from the orange, so I don't really want any with reflectors... I've seen the HD and Lightning ones, but I think the 2 I've been looking at are more simple looking, and will look decent with the stock headlight. I will still have the stock orange bulb in there, I never drive at night, and no more than 30 miles a week...
In that case I would say go for it. It's an easy install, and enhance the look greatly. If you were having trouble getting the corner out, I found it easier to unclip the headlight and slide it out a little bit so i could get my hand on the back of the corner lamp.
I have had the corners in my truck for a couple of years, I've never had issues with not having the reflector on the side. I guess if an officer wanted a reason to pull you over and cause a problem he could, that being said. I think you should go with the original ones you had picked out, if you still have stock headlights, they would match better. In the clear corners I put in the bulbs papajoemrt is referring to.
You an get them on ebay for about 13-16 bucks for a twin pack, I think I got mine at a shucks/oreilly auto part store. I have the sylvania silverstars which are a blue tint when off and amber when on. You can get the chrome plated ones one ebay too. The part number for the bulb is either 3156 or 3157 can't remember....
