I just got done searching the archives and couldn't find what I was looking for so I just figured I would start yet another mpg thread. I have a 2001 1 ton stretched 4 wheel drive auto 3.73 31 inch tires. Until now the truck's sole purpose was to be a work horse. Approximately 60K miles ago I bought the Hypertech power programmer to get some serious power out of it and have always been very happy with the truck and the programmer. Now the truck is going to be used as a daily driver \ grocery getter and still perform its usual work duties. My question is since I have never paid any attention to mpg gains or losses before does anybody know how each of the 3 programs affect fuel economy under normal driving conditions? Also I am thinking about doing a 1600 mile round trip for Thanksgiving and want to save every penny I can on fuel. Thanks
i nave a hypertech programmer on My F250, 2002. I get about the same with mine as I did before I bought it. I got mine before I found this site, now I want a DP tunner. Just don't have the cash for one or the other mods that has to be done. saveing up for gauges at the moment.
If You use Your truck for pulling heavy loads I would suggest not running in the 3rd level. I have only used the third level one time on mine and it used more fuel in that tune. Mine stays on the 2nd level plus I am always pulling My 5er at least once a month.
