questions

I added two gauges to the truck, one mechanical fuel pressure under the hood and a glow shift electrical one. I used the upper drivers side port for the mechanical, and I used the lower passenger side for the one in the cab.... Any way the mechanical one reads 32psi?????? the one in the cab for some reason stays pegged at 100psi. (guessing I have a ground issue there) I am still messing with that one. But why is my FP so low at idle according to the gauge? Truck runs fine doesn't seem down on power. Only thing I can think of is the spring in the return when I put the FRx on was sure hard to get lined up right. Any thoughts?

The Glow Shift gauges have a questionable reputation so either you have a bum gauge or sender or a grounding problem like you already said.

The two ports on the fuel bowl are pre and post filter. as long as the filter is clean and not overly gunked up there is no difference s to which port the sender should go into. There is a possibility that when you put your FRx on the spring was misaligned but the FRx is also designed to bump up the fuel pressure as well.

Is the mechanical gauge new or at least know to be good?

Thanks megawatt, Ths is wha I have come up with so far. !st concern obviously is gettin my FP up. so drove truck 50 miles today to work, still drives as normal. But FP at idle under hood is 30psi. The gauge there is brand new kit from DI. as for the regulator....the litte oring around the plunger is a little chewed up. Could this cause m low FP? If so what is the part number for the internals on the regulator?

As for the glow shift....yeah I am thinking it is a bum gauge. Brand new but all wire up correctly and connentions all good. goes thru the normal start up sweeps etc. when key comes on. But needle goes to pegged and stays there???? Course they are closed today

The reason I am sing both ports and 2 auges is just this reason. In case one is wrong, I have a back up, also wen worki on truck I can see the FP from in or out of the cab withot having to move(when I get them working right) and also maybe see whe filter needs to be changed etc.

HELP HELP HELP. Ok I took apart the FRx from the fuel bowl, spring was all sorts of twisted in there. Hopefully that solved the problem. But now I have a new one. the fuel return sleeve oring. (the fat one that holds the seal on the return line under the nut that connects to the reuglator housing) is no good. fuel spewing everywhere. I am stranded. anyone know if I can get one at napa. and what size is it???? Help please

It is a 5/16" Fuel Sleeve. Also, if your o-ring on the plunger is torn up it will drastically affect your fuel pressure. You will need to get that replaced to get your pressure up.

I'm a little late to this party, story of my life, but I had a fuel pressure issue as well, just got it fixed about an hour ago. My problem was that I was seeing 95 psi at idle when I got my new gauge hooked up (ISSPRO Performax's). At WOT it would only drop to 77-78 psi. Well the weather finally co-operated with my day off and I got a chance to check things out and found that the spring that sits into the FRX wasn't seated into the recess correctly, it was hooked on one of the little tabs, thus 'cranking' my fuel pressure. I guess that's what I get for not making sure it was right the first time. Anyway, it's all set now, idles right around 67-68 psi. I haven't driven it yet to see what I get for drop at WOT but it's already MUCH better.

On another note, Fire Rooster, I have both the o-ring and the little one for the plunger you can have. They are used but intact and didn't leak. I just changed my fuel bowl (thanks Jason, AKA Orezona) which is why I have the extras. I know it won't help you today but I could over night them to you in the morning, just PM me your address.

Update, Ford opened today. got the vibralock. So truck is running with n fuel leaks. I bought two. PlatinumPete is kind enough to overnight the FPR internals from his truck to me. So I will still be pulling it apart to try and solve the original low fuel pressure problem with a plunger and oring that are intact. (Big thanks Pete patiently waiting) But at least for now se is driveable and I am not stranded anymore.
