"X" vin code the same engine?

Is the "X" engine code the same between a '95 and the '97?

I notice that most '97s have an "E" for the engine code.

The X signifies the OHV (pushrod) engine, there are some sensor changes on the 95-97 engines.

The E is the OHC.
